Mobile Data Solutions

Most businesses recognise that it’s important to give their workforce the tools they need to stay in touch when they are away from the office.

Mobiles mean business people can stay in touch with their office, customers and suppliers on the move without finding a phone box or a fixed-line phone.

Mobile data is an important part of our development and investments at o2.  Our mobile data products can add real value to your life and your business.

You can work more effectively using a combination of both data and mobile technologies when you’re out and about, which gives the same professional impression as sitting at your desk in an office.

Think of the Return on Investment (ROI) when you adopt mobile data for your workforce. It’ll vary from business to business but there are plenty of opportunities. Imagine if you could benefit from:

  • 1 extra customer visit per day
  • Reduced costs – using a PDA instead of a laptop – a PDA probably costs 50% of a laptop
  • Increased staff satisfaction that can help reduce staff turnover (recruitment typically costs 20K)
  • Increased productivity
  • Conforming to Legislation(Working Time Directive)

Why o2 for data?

  • Two independent surveys* have selected o2 as having the best UK GPRS network
  • You can get fast mobile data on GPRS networks abroad in over 60 countries
  • To release the potential of your laptop whenever and wherever you are** - secure access to your emails, the Internet and your internal systems – you need an o2 Data Card

Data Coverage

O2 has the best UK GPRS network

One of the most important areas to consider when you work remotely is coverage.

We’ve got extensive coverage at home and abroad for different network services (GPRS/3GWLAN) so that you can access your company systems when you work away from the office.

GPRS

Two independent surveys have recognised that our GPRS network is the best UK GPRS network* and it’s vital to know that the network you’re connecting through supports the robustness you and your business needs. It’s not just here in the UK( where we have 99% coverage), you’ll be able to get fast mobile data access on 103GPRS networks abroad in over 60 countries.

Ascom August 2002. Citrix November 2003.

3G

Our 3G coverage is initially in areas with high population density where we’re already seeing a demand for mobile data services. These include cities such as London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh. We have an aggressive programme of 3G coverage deployment to other major cities and large towns. This phased approach will enable us to gauge demand and learn from customers and evolve. We are working hard to provide coverage to 80% of the population by the end of 2007.

Wireless LAN (WLAN)

O2 Wireless LAN gives you the ability to work at any one of the thousands of hotspot locations we have across the UK. With your Wireless LAN compatible laptop (or non-compatible laptop and Wireless LAN data card) and our 02 Connection Manager Software you’ll be able to access your company systems and the Internet at speeds equivalent to broadband.

For the latest list of our hotspots locations visit
