A coffee with… Rob Skarratt

 

We sat down for a coffee and a catch up with our Service Delivery Manager, Rob Skarratt, to find out more about his role at LIMA, the projects he’s most excited about and what life’s like outside of work.

 
 

Rob, tell us about your journey with LIMA so far.

My LIMA journey started eight months ago when I joined to help shape the service team as well as the wider business. It was apparent upon meeting LIMA’s founders Paul and Lisa that this is an extremely ambitious business that’s aiming to be the best, not the biggest, which is something that really resonated with me. 

I’m fortunate that the challenges I’ve faced so far at LIMA have been positive, including increased revenues, more customers coming on-board and a rising employee head count. Throughout this time, I’ve had the opportunity to put forward  a multitude of ideas on how we can progress both our business and the businesses of our clients. 


What makes LIMA great?

With our revamped branding and new skills joining the business, we’ve managed to retain the energy of a start-up while actually celebrating our 20th anniversary this year. Our longevity is a testament to the leadership of the business and the wider team who strive to continue innovating through services such as LIMA Cloud and PULSE Monitoring and Security solutions.

Our people-centric approach is also a key differentiator, whether that’s our customers or the LIMA team. When this is fused with our culture and the appetite to innovate, you can really feel something special happening. 


What’s the most rewarding aspect of your role?

The biggest satisfaction I get is when people bring ideas to me about how they believe we can produce better work more efficiently. I would hope the team sees me as somebody that brings positivity and a voice to their ideas.

Listening to customer feedback and implementing into the business is also incredibly rewarding. We recently overhauled our Change Management System off the back of constructive feedback, and customers now feel engaged with the new process. My aim is to treat customers as stakeholders with a voice in our operations. 


Tell us a bit about your life outside of LIMA.

I’m a proud father of a beautiful one-year-old girl, so I spend as much time as I can with her and my gorgeous wife of five years. My wife and I take on renovation projects, fixing up properties before selling them on, although if we do any more, I think she might hit breaking point!

How to Win Friends and Influence People, an all-time classic by Dale Carnegie and recommended by Andrew Pitt, a true people champion who I worked with many years ago.
