A platform for growth:
How Brabners delivered on its tech vision

Company background
Active since 1772, Brabners LLP is a leading North West law firm that offers a full range of commercial advice including corporate, property, litigation, sports and employment.
In Q1 2025, Brabners reported its seventh consecutive year of growth, with annual revenues passing the £50m mark for the first time. The firm now has more than 550 colleagues across four offices in Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and Lancashire.
For Brabners, time means money. With fee earners working 24/7, the firm places a huge reliance on the stability of its IT infrastructure and the availability of data and systems.

The challenge
When Brabners first came to LIMA, it was a rapidly growing business without a stable platform on which to develop an outstanding IT strategy.
The existing infrastructure was underperforming and the firm had challenges with monitoring and round-the-clock support. The business was growing, and with more fee earners to support the IT team needed to provide the platform for growth.
Brabners came to LIMA with infrastructure projects in mind, aiming to maximise efficiency and deliver a clear return on their IT investment. The firm needed a technology partner to act as an extension of its team, ensuring all aspects of the project could be delivered in the short-term and supported in the long-term.
The solution
LIMA implemented a highly available and resilient active-active data centre architecture including backup technology to achieve ambitious recovery objectives. Ongoing 24/7 support provides continued peace of mind.
Brabners opted for managed core systems encapsulating compute, storage, networking and virtualisation, to provide maximum stability, reliability and 100% uptime.
LIMA provides 24/7 Managed Support Services to deliver peace of mind for users, allowing the team to focus on business-critical projects. Additionally, LIMA has implemented a live monitoring environment for Brabners’ infrastructure, allowing the team to proactively troubleshoot issues before they arise.
New backup systems were put in place to help Brabners achieve their desired RTO and RPO, with LIMA also working alongside the business to assist with its defence-in-depth strategy and implement a range of security solutions.

The outcomes
Five years, no downtime
Thanks to its strategic partnership with LIMA, Brabners has now achieved zero unplanned downtime over the last five years, a critical outcome for a law firm where every second of availability counts.
No single point of failure
The implementation of a fully resilient estate, underpinned by active-active data centre architecture, has eliminated single points of failure and provided Brabners with a robust infrastructure capable of supporting its growth. This not only ensures operational continuity but also allows the internal IT team to focus on strategic initiatives rather than firefighting issues.
Increased automation
With a platform to deliver increased automation and streamlined processes, Brabners has unlocked significant productivity gains across the business. Manual, time-consuming tasks have been reduced or eliminated, allowing teams to concentrate on value-added work. This shift has supported Brabners in maintaining high levels of client service while scaling its operations efficiently.
